WHAT MAKES ASHLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL (AMS) ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAM SO REVOLUTIONARY?
“Reports by the Conference Board of Americans for the Arts show that creativity is among the top 5 applied skills sought by business leaders – with 72% of them saying that creativity is of high importance when hiring. Their Ready to Innovate report concludes that the arts, music, creative writing, drawing, and dance, provide skills sought by employees of the 3rd millennium.”
“Students with an education rich in the arts have higher GPAs and standardized test scores, lower dropout rates, and even better attitudes about community service –
benefits reaped by students regardless of socioeconomic status. Students with four years of arts and music in highschool average 100 points better on their SAT scores than students with one-half year or less.”

Ashland Middle School’s recent grant has allowed us to upgrade this essential piece of our children’s education. The revolutionary aspect is the way we integrate the arts in our core curriculum classes.
